Diesel Mechanic
Job Details
Division – Rand Plant
Type of Employment – Permanent
Location – Port Elizabeth
Reports To – Senior Mechanic/Divisional Head
Purpose of Position – To repair mechanical and electrical faults of diesel vehicles and machinery
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in plant and fleet maintenance
- Red Seal Certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- Partial auto electrical experience
- Able to work out of town for short periods
- Able to work well in a team
- Must have own tools
- Earthmoving equipment experience – preferably CAT, Komatsu & JCB
- Minimum 5 years’ field service experience
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults of diesel vehicles and machinery
- Diagnose engine trouble and replace or repair defective parts
- Completing job cards and furnishing information of parts that should be ordered
- Assist in training learners
- Perform administrative functions
- Preventative maintenance
- Running repairs and inspections
- Stock control and housekeeping
- Supervision of assistants
